7-13-19 Pastor Dr. Mike Spaulding Interview

Black Robe Pastor – Dr. Mike Spaulding:  Dr. Mike Spaulding

This week I’m honored to have Dr. Mike Spaulding joining me.

Just to restate part of what I wrote last week: A two year study that culminated in a 2014 Barna report indicated that “What we’re finding is that when we ask them (pastors) about all the key issues of the day, [90 percent of them are] telling us, Yes, the Bible speaks to every one of these issues. Then we ask them: Well, are you teaching your people what the Bible says about those issues? – and the numbers drop … to less than 10 percent of pastors who say they will speak to it.”

The issue as to why pastors will not engages as those during the founding era of America is simply fear. As the Barna report specifies: Fear of the ACLU and IRS, Fear of their elders and deacons, Fear of their denomination, Fear of loosing members, Fear of loosing weekly giving and lastly, lack of knowledge regarding the truth of the Biblical foundation of the nation.

Now I have to tell you that the 2014 report is replaced. I sure am glad I kept a copy of that report but, the January 2019 Barna report has 50% of the pastors in America “afraid of offending someone”. Wow! Jesus offended and still offends often when it comes to sin and Biblical injustice. The social justice warriors are the gaggle in Jeremiah 2:18 that plot to defame and persecute those who will teach and speak the ‘Whole Truth’.

Well, you will enjoy hearing Dr. Spaulding’s background and I can attest he is ‘Not Afraid’!

Last Thought:

Here is fact from J. T. Headley in his 1864 book ‘Chaplains and Clergy of the Revolution’:

Notwithstanding the numberless books that have been written on the American Revolution, there is one feature of it which has been sadly overlooked. I mean the religious element. In this respect there is not a single history of that great struggle which is not so radically defective as to render the charge against it of incompleteness a valid one. This omission on the part of historians, seems the more remarkable from the fact that common belief, the universal impression, is against it. There has scarcely been a celebration of the day on which our independence was declared, in which this religious element is not referred to as constituting one of the chief features of the Revolution, yet it receives a subordinate place in history. One reason of this, doubtless, is, that it did not enter into the machinery of political or military life. It was not an organized force that could be numerically calculated or physically disposed of in making outward achievements.”

Those 50%-plus of pastors not taking a stand as the Founding era pastors did or the other 50% being mousy at best – well, they are at fault for bringing on persecution of Christianity in the Constitutional Republic of the United States.

And because you keep asking!
