Unfaithful Guardians is a program that ran in 2018. In dealing with a family death of a Patriot, conversations with my Aunt would sometimes focus on the Supreme Court. With that, I am dedicating this program to her.

Bringing back a review of Unfaithful Guardians, written by Dave Welty is most appropriate considering the recent rulings of the Supreme Court of The United States (SCOTUS).

In this is interview with Dave Welty, the author of “Unfaithful Guardians” is refreshing as well as it gives a great comparative to what is happening in the court now compared to the philosophical shifts over one hundred years ago. Dave has written a fantastic walk through history culminating in what flipped with the Judicial system and Supreme Court. His clear understanding of the 14th Amendment is deeply researched. He can clearly articulate the Original Intent established by the 39th Congress and the State Ratifying Conventions of the Day.

As always, remember: The Founders wanted us to gain knowledge and get involved! Being a Citizen is an Active involvement in our political life! Let’s get our feet on the street for this time is critical!

Elections to offices, even in the smallest Corporations, are and ought to be deemed highly important; of how much more importance is it, that elections to the highest offices in our extensive Republic, should be conducted in a manner and with a spirit becoming a free, virtuous and enlightened people, who justly estimate the value of their sacred rights.

Many are quick to regurgitate Thomas Jefferson’s written statement,

‘the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.’

But few are willing to look to the context of a full paragraph in a letter to William Stephens Smith in November 1787. The context is that Jefferson is in France. The new Constitution has been sent to the States for ratification. Jefferson observes that ‘There are very good articles in it: and very bad. I do not know which preponderate (definition: be greater in number, influence, or importance).’ Continue reading →

The Anti-federalists predicted the Constitution of ‘87 would ultimately have Bureaucratic Quagmire.

This week we saw the remembrance of Constitution Day. Well…. Maybe some folks remembered. In the great debates regarding the new form of government sent to Congress and then to the States, a number of discussions focussed on the tendency of mankind to digress morally. This digression would allow for the power elite to be in the legislature but also to establish bloated bureaucracies.

Worse, the arguments of the pseudonym Brutus would reveal the way in which the judiciary would become our present corrupt system. Continue reading →

9-14-19 Constitution Day: Articles of Confederation, Seminar and Book Launch

Constitution Day

While remembering Constitution Day by considering the up and coming remembrance of the present Constitution, one must understand the first Constitution – the Articles of Confederation. Sam Adams was on the Committee to draft the Articles of Confederation. His clear understanding of historical ‘republican’ systems and Biblical Reformation Liberty were critical inputs into the original structure of the Confederation.

I have chosen to re-run a program from 2018 because I don’t believe that folks, even many who think they have the Constitution figured out, really get what is happening at the National Level was predicted by the Anti-federalists. Why do I believe that? Because the Anti-federalists predicted that if the Pulpits did not continue as the Founding Pulpits, the Constitution of 1787 would lead to the ‘soft tyranny and despotism’ that De Tocqueville later wrote about.

Yes, we are Living the predictions of the Anti-federalists and the analytical writing of De Tocqueville!

My Grandchildren Tearing apart the Constitution

Understanding the reality of those wanting the Destruction of the Constitution, I am opening this weeks program with the Foundational truth that was the deep root of the establishment of this nation. The book was published in 1864 during a very troubled time. Destruction of the Constitution – No one Listening

The Title for today’s program is something that I have been talking about for forty plus years. I’m keeping this blog post of the program simple. The events of the past two weeks and the actions of the various states elections boards is not predictable, these are the results of not doing anything about what many other and myself have been warning about until we are blue in the face. Thankfully we live in a Constitutional Republic not a democracy or a democratic parliamentary form of government. We do have an Ageless Constitution that is most pertinent to the present. It is timeless in Principles. A most Critical discussion during the 1787 debates was and continues to be on Voting.

What does ‘Suffrage’ mean? How do we maintain the equity in Voting? And is our Constitution Timeless – Ageless?

I discuss all of these questions on this program. The concept of ‘Suffrage’ was heavily debated and James Madison is our primary arbiter in this discussion. It is critical to hear what Mason has to say to understand how important the right to vote is and that we need moral and virtuous Citizens that can develop into moral and virtuous elected representatives.

With that said: The mirrors of history come to reflective reality here on Samuel Adams Returns.
