9-1-18 Technology Credibility and Business Morality

This is it!  September 1, I am off of Facebook! Some have asked what make me so sanctimonious in criticism of the platform and what do I know about technology? I explain my development in the digital world from building a computer to being an executive developing new companies.

Most importantly we need to have an honest conversation about morality in the Board Room. We have become a nation of ‘mammon seekers’ over Liberty protectors. When technology becomes the et al. to every issue in life and we have new oligarchs consolidating power: then we have some really serious things to consider.

I really would like you to consider this key resource from the Founding era. It is the “Continental Association, 20 October 1774” which details “Non-importation, Non-consumption, and Non-exportation Agreement”. My argument will always be that the only and proper way to impact the techno-oligarchs is by Non-consumption! Think about the sacrifices that the people of the Colonies accepted but even more so think about the explosion of new businesses and industry that came to be by these actions.

With that, remember Proverbs 9:1 – There is nothing new under the sun!

The mirrors of history come to reflective reality here on Samuel Adams Returns.

Oh… on a side note, check out the article on Local Levies that I’ve written at this Blog.

And because you keep asking!

8-25-18 Federalist #10 Part 3 – Virtuous Statesmen and Controlling Faction?

Ok folks. We are Living out the Anti-federalists perspective of Federalist #10 yet we are not even close to finishing our understanding or application of Madison’s words here. In this program I will be delving into more of the heart of the vanity to expect that there will be a continuum of ‘enlightened statesmen’ and the ‘Causes and Effects’ of Factions.

I bring you into a little clearing understanding of Madison’s thought process here by going back to Witherspoon’s Lectures on Moral Philosophy. We need the background info to understand the heart of this Framer of the Constitution.

8-18-18 Madison, Witherspoon and Federalist #10

The many turns of life did not facilitate the mid week discussion that I was intending regarding the relationship of Madison to John Witherspoon. Therefore, this week I bring in the interesting tidbits about Madison and a good deal about John Witherspoon.

What is striking about Witherspoon is detailed in the ‘Introduction’ of the reference containing his ‘Lecture on Moral Philosophy’ or as otherwise titled ‘Moral Society’. What caught me is the reality that many of the pastors in the US are even more now of the Moderatist perspective then like Witherspoon who was a Populist in the church debates in Scotland. So that you don’t have to look it up, which most of you would not do, here is the quote from the Intro for clarification:

8-11-18 Federalist #10: “Factions” – How to deal with them

Emotionalism is everywhere in all the media and the technology giants are determining what we should think and believe. Yes, these are in essence the words of Madison in Federalist #10. As I always say from Proverbs 1:9 – “There is Nothing New under the sun”!

This discussion will take more than one program to cover. I’m only touching the very tip of the iceberg in that the use of emotionalism (passion) is nothing new and that ‘faction’ has always been detriment to Liberty. I get into Madison’s definition of ‘faction’ and that there are ways of dealing with it that in the general sense are what we are seeing from the technology sector and even in legislation; neither of which are the correct way, according to Madison.

8-4-18 Sam Adam 1764 and John Knox Appellation

The fact and reality is: That Christians in the these United States are to be full Participants, Actively, in governing. Sam Adams exemplifies this in his penning of the “INSTRUCTIONS OF HE TOWN OF BOSTON TO ITS REPRESENTATIVES IN THE GENERAL COURT. MAY, 1764”, which according to the Colonial Charters set up participatory self-rule for the citizenry. Not only is it necessary to participate in self-governance but it is fact that a community, a county, a State and Nation can legislate morality. If they do not then the citizenry allows immorality to become the law to the detriment of the general community.

Now, This ‘Instruction’ addressed the despotism coming from the mother country and required responses via the ‘Lesser Magistrates’ elected by the people, most of whom were in fact Christians, to address the issues at had to the national government and the King. Those issues being Morality, Religious Liberty, Commerce and Manufacturing.

Since Sam Adams studied John Knox, Calvin and the other Reformers – He knew that the process of redress through the elected is proper even mandatory in a ‘Representative’ form of governance. Adams clearly addresses the ‘English Constitutionality’ of the people as sovereigns and the Reformation Principle of ‘Appealing’ to the ‘Lesser Magistrates’ to further the Liberty and happiness of the general public.

It is beyond comprehension and an absolute misrepresentation of Biblical Reformation and Colonial Principles for pastors, priest and rabbi’s to tell their congregations that they should ‘not be involved’, ‘fully submit to the government authority’, and ‘pay your taxes without complaint’. When tyranny and despotism are obvious and those elected are not acting as the agents of the Moral Sovereign of the Universe – Then is in this Constitutional Republic the absolute right and responsibility to call for redress and actively act against tyranny and despotism.

We have so much more to learn from our Founders and their original intent for good governance which is based on Reformation Biblical Principles.

Join me on the program to value the Founders perspective of the mirrors of history and the reality of the present.

7-21-18 Calvin Institutes Book IV Chapter 20 then Hamilton

A short introduction and synopsis of Calvin regarding biblical government. Calvin argued that the office of the magistrate was “a most sacred office,” a noble profession worthy of any Christian’s respect. Magistrates were “the viceregents of God,” said Calvin, established by his authority and accountable to him for their actions. Even tyranny was preferable to anarchy, and only where the tyrant contradicted the commands of God was peaceful resistance warranted. [Institutes Book IV Chapter 20] According to Calvin, government had a divinely-instituted purpose: to protect the public order and defend God’s moral law. When it came to the question of how best to order the state, Calvin offered an opinion: a mix of republicanism and aristocracy. I have no capacity in this short order to get to all that can be discussed back and forth as to all that Calvin proposes and even rejects in this chapter. But for me, the bottom line is that we now have a Constitutional Republic and that is what must be supported and kept in good order for good government. Yes and Christians have a responsibility in doing so.

In the last two segments I again do not have time to fully contrast what Hamilton writes in the referenced Federalists Papers nor do I get into the details of Yates writing as Brutus which predicts our present Judicial system breakdown. The Courts have in every essence fulfilled all that Hamilton indicated would be their jurisdictional authority… and then some. With this short time we have, I am taking you through only a couple high level points of Hamilton’s approval of the structure and intent of Article III that has more than exceeded any perspective of his simplicity in argument for the supremacy of the Court.

Join me on the program to value the Founders perspective of the mirrors of history and the reality of the present.

7-14-18 Swamp Update and Sam Adams on Voting

This week is simple: In the first segment I give a quick update from the founders perspective on the Supreme Court Nomination and the hellacious noises from the Court steps to the main stream media. The last two segments are regarding ‘What’ Sam Adams had to say about voting and how we should vet candidates as well as develop future leaders through morality in education. He said this: “As Piety, Religion and Morality have a happy influence on the minds of men, in their public as well as private transactions, you will not think it unseasonable, although I have frequently done it, to bring to your remembrance the great importance of encouraging our University, town schools, and other seminaries of education, that our children and youth while they are engaged in the pursuit of useful science, may have their minds impressed with a strong sense of the duties they owe to their God, their instructors and each other, so that when they arrive to a state of manhood, and take a part in any public transactions, their hearts having been deeply impressed in the course of their education with the moral feelings—such feelings may continue and have their due weight through the whole of their future lives.”

7-7-18 Sam Adams and the Anti-federalists Vindicated

The Vindication of the Founders of the Nation is required even more so now in the congregation of the churches where Liberty in its totality once rang true.

As I was preparing for this program I received and email that has taken me down a completely different course than I intended. The article by Dr. Joel McDurmon title “Sam Adams to America: “I told you so.”” vindicates all that I have been doing these many years as Sam Adams as well as my diatribe that the Anti-federalists ‘Got It Right’! Great article so click on the link in this paragraph or in the References to read it.

With this past Wednesday being ‘Independence Day’ – I want to remind you of the word of Sam Adams as he was asked to give his perspective related to the Declaration of Independence. He spoke about this Action on August 1, 1776 – the day before the final signatures were affixed to the completed document. Continue reading

6-16-18 Melancton Smith Got It

All the noise, I mean news, that has been released on the DOJ/FBI report is already in the spin cycle of  every so called news outlets…. out there. Yet, what is truth? How does one discern fact from fiction?

I mention the Seminar based on my book, From Covenant To The Present Constitution, which there was still time to register for this time of digging into truth. I will discuss that there is a why to get discernment but it requires a relationship with the living God.

Lastly I take us back once again to Melancton Smith who in all substance nails the FBI IG report and much more. Simply put, Mr. Smith Got It!
